CERTIFIED PARTS

MANUFACTURING CERTIFIED PARTS FOR PRESSURE EQUIPMENT.

What are Certified Parts?

Let's assume you have pressure equipment in service, designed and manufactured to an Original Construction Code such as the ASME Code or any other.

Due to service-induced deterioration, a pressure-retaining part of the equipment needs to be replaced; for example: the top of a process tower, a shell course or a head containing nozzles and other welded fittings, a heat exchanger shell, channel, boiler coils, etc.

Due these parts have welded joints they cannot be purchased as material (e.g., flanges, plates, pipe, etc.); that is, they must be purchased as CERTIFIED PARTS.

Therefore, these certified parts must be manufactured by a CERTIFIED SHOP as required by the equipment's Original Construction Code.

These parts must be inspected and stamped by this shop according to the Original Construction Code. Depending on this, these welded fabricated parts can be fabricated, stamped, and certified as "U," "S," or "R" parts.

Parts fabricated, stamped, and certified as "U" or "S" can also be used for the manufacture of new equipment designed and manufactured according to the ASME Code.

What are "U-Part" certified parts?

They are welded fabricated parts for use in the manufacture or repair of pressure vessels designed and manufactured according to ASME Code Section VIII Div. 1.

Their design, manufacture, welding, materials, inspection, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), NDE, testing, stamping, and certification meet the requirements of ASME Code Section VIII Div. 1.

These parts can be, for example: heads and shell courses (with welded joints), nozzles, a heat exchanger shell or channel, and any other part manufactured by welding.

The part manufacturer, who must hold a valid Certificate of Authorization for use of the ASME certification mark and its "U" or "PRT VIII-1" designator, issues a partial MPDR data report (FORM U-2 or U-2A), which describes the scope of work and manufacturing details.

This partial MPDR data report is submitted with the part so that the final equipment manufacturer can attach this document to their Manufacturer’s Data Report (FORM U-1 or U-1A) for the complete equipment, or to their repair or alteration data report (FORM-R1 or R2) for parts to be used as a replacement part.

What are "S-Part" certified parts?

These are welded fabricated parts for use in the fabrication or repair of power boilers designed and manufactured in accordance with ASME Code Section I.

Their design, fabrication, welding, materials, inspection, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), NDE, testing, stamping, and certification meet the requirements of ASME Code Section I.

The part manufacturer, who must hold a valid Certificate of Authorization for use of the ASME certification mark and its "S" or "PRT I" designator, issues a partial data report (MPDR) (FORM P-4), describing the scope of their work and manufacturing details.

This partial data report (MPDR) is submitted with the part so that the final boiler manufacturer can attach this document to their master data report (MDR) (FORM P-2 or P-3 or P3A) for the complete boiler or to their repair or alteration data report (FORM-R1 or R2), for parts to be used as a replacement part.

What are "R-Part" certified parts?

They are welded fabricated parts for use in the repair of pressure equipment designed and manufactured according to a Construction Code other than the ASME Code, in any of its sections.

Normally, these parts must be inspected and stamped by a CERTIFIED SHOP as required by the equipment's Original Construction Code.

If fabrication and certification by a certified shop as required by the equipment's Original Construction Code is not possible or impractical, a shop holding a valid "R" Certificate of Authorization issued by the NBBI can fabricate and certify the part as an "R-Part."

What types of CERTIFIED PARTS can we manufacture for you?

  • Tube bundles for shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
  • Channels for shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
  • Prefabricated replacement parts for process towers and vessels for refineries and industrial plants.
  • Replacement parts for power boilers.
  • Nozzles with weld-overlay cladding.
  • Parts manufactured with integrally bonded cladding.
  • Parts for equipment subject to corrosive services (H2S, carbonate, caustic, amine).
  • Fired heaters coils.
  • Among others.

What materials do we use?

The material you need, depending on the equipment you want to repair or alter.

We manufacture parts in materials such as carbon steel, low-alloy steel (Cr-Mo), high-alloy steel (austenitic, ferritic, and duplex stainless steel), non-ferrous materials (copper, nickel, aluminum, and titanium alloys), and cladding materials.

Can we install the parts for you?

Yes, we can install the parts. If the installation requires welding, the work must be performed in accordance with NBIC Part 3. In this case, whether a repair or alteration, the installation must be stamped and certified "R."

Do we offer a warranty?

Our certified parts have a warranty of up to 18 months for defects in materials or workmanship.

What is our lead time?

It will depend primarily on the type of material used, but the lead time will range from 4 to 16 weeks for carbon steel parts.

For parts made of high-alloy steel (austenitic, ferritic, and duplex stainless steels), non-ferrous materials (copper, nickel, aluminum, and titanium alloys), and cladding materials, this lead time can range from approximately 8 to 24 weeks.
